Orion to air Discovery Ultra TV channel
Group of companies "Orion", leading media platform in Russia and CIS countries, and the company "Media Alliance", joint venture between National Media Group and Discovery, Inc., agreed to cooperate in the broadcasting of a new ultra-high definition television channel Discovery Ultra in Russia. The technical partner of the project - GC "Orion" - provides comprehensive services for the release of the TV channel on the air (play-out) and its ground delivery.
Russia became the first market, where Discovery Ultra began broadcasting - the first educational Ultra HD TV channel in the Discovery portfolio, Inc.
A feature of the technical implementation of the project is that, that Discovery Ultra is streaming at 4K Ultra HD and 50p reference frame rate. The TV channel is distinguished by a unique technological complex of, which provides the ability to work with an expanded brightness and color space 10 bit. This guarantees outstanding image quality, broadcasted on TV viewers' screens.
Signal delivery to the Russian telecom operator will be carried out using HEVC compression in IP format.
Especially for this project, Orion Group of Companies has developed and implemented the latest broadcasting platform, allowing to carry out a full cycle of TV channels formation in accordance with the specified technical parameters.
